Arum Lily our Little Faery Friend wishes everyone a Happy August 1st,2014.
" Lughnasadh the First Harvest" (pronounced loo-na-sa)
and She is ready to share another Meditation Journey in the ongoing stories of" A Faery Tells".
Sit back and take some time to relax in the moment allowing all the stresses of your day to slip away like water flowing to the Sea. Relax each part of your body from the tips of your toes to the top of your head by using deep and even breaths. Keep your eyes closed and focus on the Fair Meadow where the first Corn stalks are swaying in the Summer wind. Feel the warm and gentle Summer's breeze sweep against your face and imagine you can smell the sweet scent of the Corn.
Suddenly you hear the sound of cutting vegetation and the giggling of tiny voices and as you open your eyes you see Little Arum Lily. She is welding her knife swiftly cutting down the First Corn as is the tradition of her Faery Folk. She catches you looking at her and beckons you to join her in the Harvest.
Off you go to assist in this wonderful task. Carts are piled high with the First Corn and brought to the Faery Village.
This "FaeryTells" you how the Faery King and Queen started the Harvest Tradition of "Magickal Games" oh so many eons ago. These Games were invented to help the Faeries relax during the heavy work time and to stop the competitive nature that was causing so mush trouble.
It had all started because of two Little Faeries who challenged each other to see who could collect the most Corn and become the faery King's most favorite Faery.
The challenge although simple became an event of great interest to the other Faeries who stopped their work to watch and place bets on the winner. Althought they worked Night and Day the Faeries ended up with the same quantity of Corn. Because of this situation anger and envy was running rampant through the Realm. Work on the Harvest had stopped and fights were taking place amongst the gentle Faery Folk.
The Faery King quickly took charge and announced to all that He would decide the winner by forming a Magickal Game. The winner of this Game would then receive a wondrous prize. This announcement interested all the Faeries who quickly forgot the original challenge. Long rows of contestants lined up to play the Game.
The Game was quite simple...pick up the heavierst stone you could find and throw it as far from you as possible. This game went on for days but finally in the end a single Faery won.
The prize was a new Magickal drink that the Faery Queen created from the sweet mashed up Corn. This drink as with all of the Faery Queen's special potions helped you to understand that the rewards of hard work is made easier when it's done within in a group. That success and achievement has a sweeter taste when shared by those who work together towards a common goal. And that no one Faery is more special than another in the eyes of the Faery King and Queen.
The " First Harvest Festival Games" went on to be the best Harvest ever and many Faeries still say that its success was because of the new Magickal Game but secretly most Faeries admitted it was due to the Sweet Magickal Brew. Over the centuries the Games changed and evolved into a three day event which still takes place today in both the Faery and the Human Realms.
Now it is time to return to your place in the Fair Meadowand continue on home to your Time and Space but Arum Lily promises to see you again soon as she still has many more stories as only "A Faery Tells".
